“It is feared the temple, described as a one–of–a–kind example of Chinese sacred architecture, will not survive another rainy season.”

A.  Old Business:
1.  Billie:  We received a letter from the IRS, the Federal ID is being reviewed. If anything further is needed they will notify us. They are supposed to notify us within 120 days.
2.  Additional bids for contract work: We need to put together an inquiry letter to contact possible interested contractors. Gary will work on this and ask Lew for input.
3.  Billie:  We are supposed to get a draft of the historic structure report at the end of this week and report of what emergency items need to be done.
B.  New Business:
1.  June 29 Tour. Sacred Sites International sent an e-mail stating that they enjoyed the tours and would like to come back for a tour of further locations. They are also interested in attending Paul Chace's presentation in October. They donated $700 to the Committee.
a. Donation from Sacred Sites International: George suggested that we consider giving part of this donation to the Chinese Community for the Temple upkeep and for the assistance of the Temple custodian. After discussion it was M/S/P to give half of the donation to the Chinese Community. Our half will go toward the restoration. Shirley will write out a check for the Chinese Community.
b. M/S/P to transfer the $25 mural restoration donation to the rest of the restoration account as this amount of money has already been spent several times over toward the restoration. George:  If another donation comes in specifying where to use it, we will have to put it in a separate category.

VIII.  Comments from the floor:(Any items not on the agenda that you feel we should discuss at our next scheduled meeting. There will be no actions taken at this time until the subject is on the agenda for discussion by all present.)
Billie:  Donations to the Temple are not being left by tour groups. Billie will have a sign made regarding donations at the Temple and will also speak to local groups regarding donations.
George:  Paul Chace's visit: per Kay he has chosen October 19 for his presentation. We will pay for room and food. Kay is trying to get a room for him at the Harkey House B&B in Yuba City. The Arts Councill will not charge us for use of the hall if we do 10 hours of community service. We need an official letter requesting use of the building for that purpose. They also want PR with their name in any advertisements for the event. Kay will work with Bob Becker for flowers. Mrs. Chace received the flowers that we sent.
Lew:  ARG is putting together a proposal including costs. They have requested we replace one column and the beams and refurbish the second column. George asked Lew for his input on a notice to masons for bids. Lew will e-mail George with some information.
Denise:  When are we supposed to get an audit? After the IRS finalizes the Federal ID. We need the audit to apply for grants.

IX.  Next scheduled meeting: July 22, 2002 6 p.m. at City Hall

X.  Adjournment: 7:15 p.m

Respectfully Submitted,
Denise Haines
Secretary
