- August 2004 – Work has started on the portico of the temple, which when completed in September, will replace the deteriated wooden supports and posts, and permanently protect the priceless murals. The contractor is Hudspeth Corp., working closely with an art conservator, Mollie Lambert from Berkeley. Fund raisers by the local Rotary Club, the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association of San Francisco, the local Chinese Community, and the Friends of the Marysville Bok Kai Temples, plus many individual donations are providing the money for this part of the temple repairs.
